– No to the Voie bleue in Corsier
Published today at 10:04 a.m.
Corsier, November 3
This project initiated by private individuals was set up in reverse (see “Tribune de Genève” of November 1). The bank addresses the CGN for this crossing, so there are no studies from the different shipping companies. The CGN will analyze the different landing stages and choose that of Corsier-port because it is in operation (stop on request) while Corsier is the landing stage furthest from Bellevue and the large population area, far from the railway junctions, poorly served in TPG, on cycle paths and difficult to access. A crossing which will therefore be longer and will therefore consume more fuel, real nonsense!
For three years, the CGN has been announcing a minimum of 1,700 passengers per day, or even 2,300 in 2030, with a break-even point of 400 users per day. With these figures, they managed to persuade twelve municipalities to sign a financing agreement of which Corsier is not part, ensuring the CGN a deficit guarantee of 3 million francs for three years. Suddenly, these figures increased to 12.5 passengers per crossing, or 95% less in a boat still with 200 seats, no longer ensuring the profitability of this crossing in Corsier. Who will pay the deficit?
We are talking regarding decarbonizing travel but the CGN diesel boat will consume 155 tonnes of CO2 per year, compared to 2 tonnes for an electric boat. How dare we say that this crossing is a soft mobility project?
This crossing will therefore be loss-making and pollute more than if these twelve people take their car to go to Bellevue from Corsier, we are therefore in an ecological aberration.
In addition, Corsier-port is the landing stage most exposed to the wind and the boat will have to avoid the UNESCO-listed pile-dwelling site by turning back in reverse, which will make the exercise even more complicated.
The Canton must rethink this project from the beginning and make this lake crossing a real soft mobility project attractive to all Genevans.
