He National Registry of Persons (Renaper) announced a new modification for the DNI from September. In a statement they reported the numbers they will jump from 59,999,999 to 70 million.
Although it sounds strange and quite curious, the explanation is simple. It is that in 2019 the National Government allocated the series from 60 million to 69,999,999 to the Unique Labor Identification Codes (CUIL) and Unique Tax Identification Codes (CUIT) of foreign people.
In this way from September, when the succession of numbers is exhausted, newborn babies will have their National Identity Document with the series of 70 million onwards.
The measure was established on December 6, 2019 through the provision 4678/2019days before the end of the government of Mauricio Macri.
From the portfolio of the owner of Renaper, Santiago Rodríguez, they indicated that this update will only be for the newborns in Argentine territory therefore, foreigners residing in Argentina, those nationalized and those born in the country but registered late are excluded.
This excluded list will continue to have a different ID number according to the current law.
