Russian pensioners often do not work for several reasons. The main one is that the ratio of wages and pensions is uneven. Pension payments, in their opinion, are higher than salaries. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Finance Anton Siluanov.
“As of September 1, the average pension for citizens was 19.58 thousand rubles. For non-working pensioners, the average payment amount was almost a quarter higher than the pensions of workers and amounted to 20.28 thousand rubles,” emphasized Anton Siluanov. His words are quoted by RBC. The minister indicated that indexation of pensions has increased in Russia, which does not affect working pensioners. Therefore, the latter category has a lower pension. At the same time, salaries for pensioners are generally low, the minister emphasized.
There are two more reasons why pensioners do not work. Most of them prefer to relax or look following their grandchildren in retirement.
In 2024 average pension in Russia will be 23.2 thousand rubles, the head of the Russian Ministry of Finance emphasized. Siluanov also promised that in the budget for 2024-2026 projects will be taken into accountrelated to social security of citizens. In addition to the increase in pensions, it is also planned to increase the indexation of the minimum wage, reports RT. As part of the draft budget, maternity capital has also been increased, reports TV channel “Tsargrad”.
