To answer us, Thomas Etcheberry asked a specialist in the history of the Olympic Games, Denis Soula. Three boycotted Olympics caught their attention:
- The 1976 Olympics in Montreal: On the eve of the opening of the Games, all african nations with the exception of Côte d’Ivoire and Senegal withdraw their athletes to protest once morest New Zealand’s presence at the Olympics. For what ? Because New Zealand continues to send its rugby team to play matches in South Africa, a country that was excluded from the world because of apartheid.
