Former Sri Lanka fast bowler and Colombo Strikers bowling coach Chaminda Vas has opened up regarding not leading the franchise team in the Premier League (LPL).
In an interview with a foreign news agency, former Sri Lankan fast bowler Chaminda Was revealed that Babar Azam wanted to focus on his batting, so the team management and players respected his decision and Nirushan Dakwela was given the leadership duties.
He said that the presence of Babar Azam will provide the best learning opportunity for the young players in the squad, apart from them, Naseem Shah is also a big name in bowling who can be beneficial for the team.
Earlier, Babar Azam has played two matches representing Colombo Strikers in the Lincoln Premier League. In the first match, he returned to the pavilion following scoring just 7 runs. However, in the second match, Babar played an innings of 59 runs and led the team to victory.
It should be noted that Babar Azam’s Colombo Strikers are at the third position on the points table with one win and one loss in two matches while Galle Titans and Dambulla Ora occupy the first and second positions respectively.
Earlier in the Lincoln Premier League (LPL), fans criticized the franchise for appointing Naroshan Dakvila as the captain instead of Babar Azam in the Colombo Strikers team that reached the heights of fame.
