“We don’t need the mobile phone at all in the bedroom. Better to leave it outside.” Francisco Javier Segarra, an expert in sleep medicine, expresses himself with this forcefulness when we asked him if it is an “acceptable” practice to go to bed with our cell phone.
The expert goes further and even recommends avoiding looking at it two hours before you plan to go to sleep. What are the reasons? “The blue light emitted by electronic devices such as mobile phones, tablets and computers can impact our suprachiasmatic nucleus of the hypothalamus, which is like our internal clock that allows the pineal gland to manufacture melatonin,” says Segarra.
