Why is the Strépy drama file being dealt with in Tournai, and not in Mons?

This question bothers some readers, particularly in Wallonia Picardy. The reason is organizational within the Mons-Tournai judicial district.

Last Tuesday, Paolo Falzone appeared for the third time before the Tournai Council Chamber, which granted him detention under an electronic bracelet. By appealing against this decision, the Public Prosecutor’s Office keeps, by force of circumstance, the defendant behind the bars of the Tournai prison.

But one question is bothering some of you: Why, for acts that were committed in Strépy-Bracquegnies (near La Louvière), is the case being dealt with in Tournai?
