During the third ICC Test Championship Pakistan And Sri Lanka The two-match Test series between
Two years ICC Test Championship 27 series consisting of 68 matches will be played between the nine Test playing countries.
Meanwhile, the Pakistani team will play 14 matches in which seven matches will be played on their soil and seven in other countries.
Pakistan will play two Tests against Bangladesh, three against England and two against West Indies in Pakistan, while outside the country they will play three against Australia, two against South Africa and two against Sri Lanka.
The recent Sri Lanka series is very important for Pakistan in the sense that the rest of the series are difficult for Pakistan, while the track record against Sri Lanka is much better and the opposition team is not as dangerous as it was five years ago.
It is a good opportunity for Pakistan to have a home series with foreigners Series I can at least win these two tests to consolidate the points table proposition.
In total, Pakistan has played 57 Test matches against Sri Lanka so far, in which Pakistan has won 21 and lost 17.
So far, Pakistan have played 25 matches in Sri Lanka, in which they have won nine and lost eight.
Pakistan team captaincy Babur Azam under whose leadership Pakistan visited Sri Lanka last year too and the series was tied 1-1.
Pakistan’s two Tests in the series were played in Galle, in which the Lincoln Board announced an investigation following allegations of fixing and irresponsible performance in the media after fingers were raised over Sri Lanka’s defeat in the first Test.
While in the second test, Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan unilaterally.
Where will the matches of the recent series be held?
The first Test of Pakistan’s recent series is also starting from Galle. Pakistan have played seven matches in Galle so far, out of which four have been lost and Pakistan has won three.

What will be the team combination?
Pakistan team played the last test match against New Zealand in which the most important change in the team was former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed.
Sarfaraz made his comeback in this series by scoring a century which disproved the claims of all the critics that Sarfraz’s career was over.
Sarfaraz Ahmed’s career suffered a setback after the 2019 World Cup, although he remained with the team but could not be included in the playing XI.
His inclusion in the Galle Test is certain, his career on Sri Lankan soil is also impressive. He has already scored 469 runs in five matches, including a century.
Pakistan’s opening pair will consist of Abdullah Shafiq and Imam-ul-Haq, but Abdullah Shafiq could only score 43 runs in his last two matches, so Shaun Masood is likely to be tried in his place.
If that happens, Mohammad Hurira is likely to get a Test cap but Shaan Masood will be one-down if Abdullah Shafiq plays. Captain Babar Azam will be the fourth batsman and Saud Shakeel will be the fifth batsman.
Sarfaraz Ahmed will be the sixth batsman and Salman Agha will be the seventh batsman. Mohammad Nawaz is a strong candidate as an all-rounder while Shaheen Shah Afridi and Hasan Ali or Naseem Shah will be the fast bowlers.
Pakistan will field with an extra spinner and Abrar Ahmed is likely to play as the Sri Lankan pitches will suit them very well.

Shaheen Shah Afridi’s bowling will be crucial for Pakistan as he returns after a long year and looks for his 100th wicket.
In batting, Saud Shakeel is playing outside the country for the first time, so his batting will also be tested.
The Sri Lankan team will rely heavily on captain Dimuth Karunaratne and Kaushal Mendes who batted brilliantly against Ireland in the previous series but this time there will be a different bowling attack led by Shaheen Afridi.
Experienced Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandy will be in the middle order while Madhushanka and Dhananja de Silva will also strengthen the batting.
The most important name in the bowling is the left-arm spinner Parbath Jayasuriya who will create severe problems for the Pakistani batsmen besides the off-spinner Ramesh Mendis will also be dangerous.
How will the wicket of Gal?
The cheek pitch is traditionally a batting pitch but has improved over time for spinners. It is easy to bat on him on the first day but the ball stays low on him on the last two days which will cause problems for the Pakistani batsmen.
The team that wins the toss will choose to bat first. Noman Ali can be dangerous among Pakistani spinners but his playing chances are less. Due to the rainy season, the match may be affected but it will definitely be productive.
This tour is very important for Pakistan as Pakistani players can get a lot of practice before the World Cup. Most of the players of this team will be in the World Cup team while the Asia Cup matches will also be held in Sri Lanka.
Whether Pakistan will be able to win this series is not possible yet, but Sri Lanka can prove to be a dangerous team in their own country.

**Interview with Sports Analyst Ali Raza on the Upcoming Pakistan-Sri Lanka Test Series**
**Editor:** Welcome, Ali! With the Pakistan vs. Sri Lanka Test series about to kick off, what are your thoughts on the significance of this series for Pakistan?
**Ali Raza:** Thank you for having me! This series is crucial for Pakistan, especially since they have a challenging schedule ahead. They need to capitalize on their relatively better record against Sri Lanka to secure important points in the ICC Test Championship. Winning both Tests could significantly boost their standing on the points table.
**Editor:** Indeed, the previous series between these two teams was quite intense. Given that Pakistan and Sri Lanka tied their last series 1-1, how do you see this matchup evolving?
**Ali Raza:** This time, I believe Pakistan has the upper hand. Sri Lanka’s team composition has changed; they are not as formidable as they were five years ago. Pakistan has the confidence of playing the series at home, and Galle, where the first Test will be held, has been a mixed bag for them historically. Setting the right tone from the start is essential.
**Editor:** You mentioned Galle’s unique challenges. What specific strategies do you think Pakistan should adopt given their past performance there?
**Ali Raza:** Pakistan needs to focus on adapting to the pitch conditions, which typically favor spinners. Including an extra spinner, like Abrar Ahmed, is a smart move. Moreover, the leadership of Babar Azam and the return of Sarfaraz Ahmed, especially after his century in the last match, can bring stability to the batting lineup. His experience on Sri Lankan pitches could be invaluable.
**Editor:** Speaking of players, who do you think will be key performers in this series for Pakistan?
**Ali Raza:** Shaheen Shah Afridi is certainly central to Pakistan’s bowling attack, especially as he eyes his 100th wicket. In batting, Babar Azam’s form will be crucial since he’s the backbone of the lineup. It’ll also be interesting to see how Saud Shakeel performs; it’s his first series away from home, and we’ll see if he can adjust under pressure.
**Editor:** Lastly, how do you assess the Sri Lankan side in this upcoming series?
**Ali Raza:** Sri Lanka will rely heavily on their captain, Dimuth Karunaratne, and experienced players like Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal in the middle order. However, with the bowling attack they’ll face, especially from Shaheen Afridi, they will need to perform exceptionally well to match up against Pakistan.
**Editor:** Thank you, Ali! Your insights truly shed light on what to expect in this exciting Test series.
**Ali Raza:** My pleasure! I’m looking forward to what should be a thrilling series.
