Blogger Brandon Butch released videoin which he compared in detail the charging speed of the iPhone 15 Pro Max with power supplies of 5, 12, 20 and 30 W, and also found out which adapter is best suited for the smartphone.
At first glance, the answer is obvious – for the fastest charging, you need to use a 30 W power supply. But in reality the situation is a little different.
The 30W adapter actually charges the iPhone 15 Pro Max the fastest. However, the smartphone is capable of receiving a maximum of 27 W, and in the blogger’s test the charging power did not exceed 24.8 W. A 20 W power supply actually produces 18.5 W.
With a 30 W adapter, the iPhone 15 Pro Max was charged in 2 hours 11 minutes, and with a 20 W adapter it was charged in 2 hours 21 minutes. Throughout the entire time, the difference in charging did not exceed 4%.
At the same time, with a 30 W power supply, the iPhone heated up more: 45.5 ℃ versus 41.6 ℃ with a 20 W charger. This does not affect the condition of the battery in any way, but you can feel the difference in your hands.
The YouTuber came to the conclusion that the difference in charging speed is not worth overpaying for a 30 W unit, which heats up the iPhone more and is structurally much larger than a 20 W adapter.
P.s. With 5W charging, the iPhone 15 Pro Max charges in 5 hours and 44 minutes. [9to5Mac]
