As summer started a few weeks ago, Emanga was thinking regarding the end. “It wasn’t clear if I was going to play basketball at all,” said the TKS 49ers signing, which is a remarkable statement for a player with his stats.
Emanga, born in Alsace, grew up in Karlsruhe and matured in the youth team of the Bundesliga club MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg, seemed to have already made the breakthrough. At the age of 18 he made his debut in Germany’s elite league, the BBL. His sponsor, the much-vaunted ex-giant coach John Patrick, even used him internationally, for the first time in November 2018, when the giants won 76:74 at Nizhny Novgorod and Emanga knew how to please. “Relaxed, focused and with great dedication” he sweeps across the floor, judged the “Ludwigsburger Kreiszeitung” and came to the conclusion: “Quirin Emanga is perhaps the greatest basketball talent that the MHP giants Ludwigsburg have ever produced.”
