World-renowned Kenyan athlete Elivid Kapchoge set another record in marathon history, becoming the first athlete to run the marathon in under two hours.
In Vienna, Austria, the Kenyan athlete completed the distance of 42.2 km in one hour, 59 minutes and 40 seconds, i.e. 20 seconds ago, he is the first athlete in the history of marathon to cover this distance in less than two hours.
After Kipchoge crossed the finish line, his fans, fans and fellow athletes cheered and congratulated him.
However, the World Athletics Federation has refused to recognize this record as it is of the view that it was not established at the Open Championships.
Other well-known athletes also ran with Elivid Kipchoge in his attempt to set a new marathon record.
World Marathon Federation President Sebastian has congratulated the Nigerian athlete for his efforts.
On the other hand, his compatriots in Kenya celebrated with great fervor.
It should be noted that Kapchoge also holds the marathon world record which he set in Berlin Marathon last year with two hours one minute and 39 seconds.
The reaction in Kenya as Eliud Kipchoge finished his 1:59:40 marathon. Incredible ?
