Why did the actor who traveled from Pishin to Hollywood miss the market?

Imran Tareen, an actor from Pashin district of Balochistan, has acted in the Hollywood filmThe Barrier‘ which will be screened at major film festivals like Cannes, Wesson and New York in 2023.

This is happening for the first time that a local actor from Balochistan is playing the lead role in a Hollywood produced film. One of the reasons for this is that the film has been shot in different areas of Balochistan.

The Hollywood produced film called ‘The Barrier’ is produced by Habib Pracha who has previously produced five big films for Hollywood, Terminal, Hard Color, The Trust and Strio in which famous Hollywood actors have been produced. What is the work?

The DoP of ‘The Barrier’ is Farhan Alam while the film is directed by Maqbool Ahmed Durrani.

Imran Tareen says that his role in the film has been negative. ‘This is the first time I am playing such a strong negative character.’

Imran Tareen has also played lead roles in popular dramas including popular films of Pakistan.

In the famous Pakistani film Abdullah (The Final Witness) he played the role of a PSP police officer while in the film called Revenge of the Worthless he is seen playing a double role. Imran Tareen says that while he was criticized by his family for working in showbiz, his grandfather Akhtar Muhammad Tareen (deceased) supported him a lot.

‘My grandfather belonged to the village of Kali Malkiar. They had told me that you should never leave this (showbiz) work. I am happy that someone like that has been born in our family who is associated with the arts.’

Imran Tareen continued his studies despite being associated with showbiz in his younger years. He holds a Masters in International Public Relations, LLB as well as a Diploma in Photography with a first position in the US School of Cinematic Arts Filmmaking Workshop.

In response to the question of what difficulties actors face in Quetta, Imran Tareen says that the difficulties for actors in Quetta are more because Quetta is not a market for plays and films.

Actors from Quetta do not get the opportunities available due to their distance from the market. “Karachi being the market, many artistes have to turn to Karachi where the competition is already fierce. A new artist needs to struggle a lot.’
