Jennifer Lopez filed divorce papers in Los Angeles on Tuesday (08/20/2024), ending a two-decade relationship with Ben Affleck that included two engagements and two marriages, TMZ reports.
The couple’s second marriage lasted just two years and they decided to end it. Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce on the two-year anniversary of the couple’s second wedding ceremony in Georgia.
According to what has seen the light of day, Lopez mentioned the date of separation as April 26, 2024, which proves that they have not been a couple for four months. Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck met and married in the early 2000s, only to split in 2004.
Lopez then married Marc Anthony and Affleck married Jennifer Garner. Three years ago they started having relationships again to reach marriage again a little later.
“Tired of humiliating her”
People close to Jennifer Lopez, her close friends, do not mince their words regarding the divorce petition she filed with Ben Affleck.

“After four failed marriages, her friends think she should look within and focus on herself, instead of what others want her to be, and finally figure out who she is and what she wants from her future,” says source.
But the source said the star isn’t the only one playing mind games.
“Jennifer said she was tired of being humiliated by Ben and waited until the anniversary because she wanted to hurt him. But it didn’t hurt him. It’s been over for a long time and deep down he knows it. He let her do this so she wouldn’t come off as the bad guy,” the source said
With no prenuptial agreement in place, their individual earnings from the past two years, whether from film projects or major commercial deals, would be joint property.
Jennifer, who is reportedly worth $400 million, has released four films since marrying Ben Affleck, including her $20 million self-financed project This Is Me… Now: A Love Story, which chronicles the “ reheated” romance of the couple.
She launched the Delola cocktail in 2023 and was set to embark on a world tour in support of her latest album ‘This Is Me… Now’, but canceled weeks before the start so she could ‘focus’ on her family.
Oscar winner Ben Affleck, who has a net worth of $150 million, recently starred in the films Air (2023) and Hypnotic (2023). He also recently wrapped production on the sequel to 2016’s The Accountant.
To make matters even more complicated, Jennifer and Ben have teamed up in the upcoming movie Unstoppable. While Affleck is producing the project alongside Matt Damon, Lopez is among the film’s stars. According to TMZ, Jennifer is not seeking spousal support and has asked the judge to deny it for Ben as well.
