Why can’t students wear black in Texas?

A school in the state of Texas has banned students from wearing and entering the school premises in clothing of a certain color because its use is associated with mental health problems.

The new measure has generated much criticism within the educational community and in the homes of regular students.

The ban notice was sent via email with an explanatory letter by HE Charles Middle School Principal Nick DeSantis in El Paso.

“Your children will not be allowed to wear all-black outfits to school because this form of dress is associated with depression and mental health issues,” DeSantis said in the letter.

Now this school in Texas will have a new dress code, where the color black is banned for all students who study there.

The dress code was approved by a group of parents, faculty, staff and community members who make up the Campus Improvement Team.

In addition, school authorities were consulted with an ordinance that led them to implement these changes in response to the concerns of the educational community.
