The Jeju Eastern Police Department announced on the 15th that it was investigating boxer A from Seogwipo City Hall on charges of assaulting and injuring a ssireum athlete who was regarding to participate in the competition (injury).

Person A is accused of striking the victim’s face several times with a fist several times because of eye contact with a ssireum player B belonging to the Jeju Provincial Office on the street near Jeju City Hall around 3 am on the 29th of last month.

As a result, B broke the bones around his eyes and was unable to participate in the ssireum contest scheduled for the 31st of the same month.

It was confirmed that A and B were intoxicated at the time of the incident.

An official from the Jeju Provincial Sports Association, who was entrusted with Jeju Island to manage the athletes belonging to the workplace sports team, said, “We have completed the investigation into the incident, and we have received a police officer from the athlete and coach. will do it,” he said.
