Why are Pakistani youths eager for Arijit Singh’s concert?

When it comes to Arjit Singh, it doesn’t matter whether you are Pakistani or Indian.

If last year he was the most listened artist in India, then there was no one ahead of him in Pakistan. Earlier his voice made his fans crazy, now his loving attitude towards Pakistan is winning people’s hearts.

Two days ago, during his concert in Toronto, the ‘Agar Tum Saath Ho’ singer once again spoke beautifully about Pakistan. When a person started waving the Pakistan flag in the concert hall, the security personnel tried to stop him. Arjit intervened as soon as he saw it and forbade the staff from doing so.

The audience, overflowing with emotion, lifted the hall in support of him. Later, the same noise was heard on social media where a large number of Pakistani fans are going for Urjit.

But it is not like standing on the stage and winning the hearts of Pakistanis with their behavior for the first time. Earlier, during a show in Abu Dhabi in November last year, he protested against closing the doors of Bollywood to Pakistani singers.

Before the Pakistani singers sang, he paused and said ‘I have a question. This is a wrong (ie) controversial question. But still I want to ask because I don’t mind the hour.’

He continued and said: ‘I don’t watch news, so tell me one thing, is Pakistani music banned in India? Is it still intact or has it been lifted?’ He then named Atif Aslam, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Shafqat Amanat Ali among his favorite artists.

A similar scene was seen in Houston. Last month, while performing in the US state, Arijit saw one of his Pakistani fans, who was constantly applauding him by raising his hand. On this occasion, he addressed his Pakistani fan and said, ‘I intend to visit Pakistan.’

As if they are saying, save some flowers of love to shower there.

This clip went viral on social media and Pakistani fans started welcoming Arjit Singh on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Seeing the condition of the youth, it seemed that they had no other wish than that Arijit Singh should come to Pakistan and see him perform live.

We saw our elders lamenting that they never got to see Mohammad Rafi or Lata Mangeshkar perform in Pakistan. If so, it would be the fulfillment of one of the most beautiful dreams of his life.

Rafi Sahib left very soon, now even Lataji is not there, but three or four generations of Pakistan still feel this void within themselves, which no one will be able to fill now.

In the past, singers’ songs were played on the radio, bought on cassettes and watched in movies. In these three, the singer had a voice and not a face. Have you ever seen your favorite voices embodied in a magazine or newspaper? But how much was their circulation? So in every era of the past, people used to see the face of the hero and heroine of whoever they were listening to and related themselves to them.

Social media did not let the background singer stay behind. Now their presence and organized number of fans are introducing new trends in the form of regular following.

Rafi and Lata ‘sing’ on stage while Arijit and Shreya Ghoshal ‘perform’. Because of her acting skills, Kishore and because of her beauty, Rona Laili also continued to perform on stage, but it was a limited activity due to the lack of social media.

In the past, after watching a movie, the image of the hero or heroine danced on the screen of the mind for a while, but today, the abundance of information and easy access to social media apps does not allow one to stay in one place for long. This also went in favor of the singers to a great extent.

Listening to music has become much easier than before. While walking, traveling or waiting for someone, putting hands-free earphones and listening to songs of your favorite singers using minimal data has become part of the routine of life.

How many people today leave the house with a radio or a tape recorder in hand like you carry a mobile phone?

Thanks to social media and access to the internet, the hero also faced another challenge compared to the singer. The hero began to be compared directly with global stars. Tired of the formula films of Bollywood, the young generation started looking into Hollywood. The trend of the season and their popularity is proving to be the last straw on the camel’s back.

Despite watching Bollywood movies for entertainment, today’s teenagers don’t gravitate towards Aamir, Shah Rukh or Salman like they do Virat Kohli or Arjit Singh.

The three Khans may have been the most popular of the young generation in the nineties, but in the 21st century, especially in the last decade, the magic of their songs speaks louder than Bollywood movies. Today’s teenagers call and believe Singh as ‘Badshah’ instead of Khan.

Youngsters who watch Hollywood movies and Korean dramas also find their emotions reflected in local songs. They are forced to return to the atmosphere of their culture to listen to the songs of any language.

We lived most of the emotional moments of love, sadness and life in the voice of Arjit Singh. We worship them. Therefore, the biggest desire of Pakistani youth is to see Arjit Singh perform in front of them.

We don’t need a bollywood hero, just pick up the guitar and let Arijit visit Pakistan.
