The story seems to be in its infancy. In January 2023, Airbus initiated discussions with Atos to acquire a stake in the subsidiary which should have brought together the company’s activities in big data, cybersecurity, the cloud and supercomputers. On February 15, Airbus even submitted an offer to become the reference shareholder of the future company Evidian, with 29.9% of the capital. Six weeks later, Airbus abruptly closed the file, declaring that it did not correspond “to the objectives of the company”.
In January 2024, the European aircraft manufacturer declared that it was ultimately still interested in the Atos file but proposed another plan. Instead of becoming Evidian’s key shareholder, the manufacturer is now proposing to buy 100% of some of its big data and cybersecurity activities.
