Every few years, an old concept is pulled out of a political hat: taxing the rich in the form of inheritance, gift and property taxes. The time has come once once more: As a result of the campaign by SPÖ candidate Andreas Babler, the KPÖ’s victory in the state elections in Salzburg on April 23 and the recent initiative by Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler (Greens) at the weekend, there is once more a debate regarding these possible new taxes inflamed.
