Created in 1956, the Ballon d’Or of France Football magazine changes this year, a reform intended to make it “more understandable”. After rewarding players for their performance for a calendar year, the trophy now adjusts to the sporting calendar and takes into account the 2021-2022 financial year.
It should be noted that the men’s League of Nations in October 2021 is also included in the jury’s analysis, as well as the women’s European Championship in July 2022. But not the debut of the 2022-2023 course, which began in August.

The entire career of a player will no longer be taken into account, to avoid the risks of a “saved chair”, following a spectacular period with 12 Balls shared between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The jury has also been reviewed, with 100 voters, journalists from each of the top 100 nations in the FIFA ranking (which has 170 countries) and 50 voters for the women’s Ballon d’Or.
