Who will win the Music Award Steyr? Voting is possible until Friday

43 bands from the region have applied to win the Music Award Steyr (MAS) in recent years. The third edition features 15 bands and musicians from all over Upper Austria. The audience voting is currently underway, following which a jury of experts will decide who will receive the main prize, a professional music video shoot, this year. The chance to put your favorite musician in a top position is still available up to and including Friday www.musicawardsteyr.at. You can also listen to all of the music here.

All 15 contributions to listen to

“The fact that 15 musicians and bands are participating once more this year shows how coveted a success at the Music Award is,” says Tobias Kammerhofer from the agency Werbeberg, who, together with Stefan Kern from Musikinstrumente Kern and Günter Stöffelbauer from the event agency High Jump, from the OÖNachrichten supported MAS organized for the third time. The spectrum of contributions ranges from pop to rock ‘n’ roll and dialect music to hip-hop by young artists. “The MAS is regarding, among other things, showing how much our region has to offer musically,” says the 26-year-old from Kammerhofer, who wants to offer up-and-coming musicians a chance with the award and at the same time want to stimulate the local scene.

In previous years, more than 56,000 votes were cast for the bands online. This year, the public vote ends on September 30, following which a specialist jury consisting of five celebrities from the music industry will meet. The winner will be announced on November 1st, followed by the award ceremony on November 11th.

Expensive grand prize

One of the jurors is Wolfger Buchberger, founder of Pop-BORG Linz, where artists such as Folkshilfe, Krautschädl, Lou Asril and musicians from the bands Bilderbuch, Parov Stelar and Lemo have all gone to school. “The Music Award Steyr motivates bands in the region to present themselves to a broader public. The main prize is a great thing, as it is a very expensive matter,” says Buchberger. Supporting young musicians has always been a priority for him. In addition to him, the music producers Paul Katzmayr and Wolfgang Pammer, cultural manager Wolfgang Pfeiffer and radio producer Loucaz Steinherr are also part of the expert jury.

You can also vote for the Steyr rapper Mike Stone, who submitted his song “Billz”, or for the Bad Hall formation “Park ‘n’ Ride” with “Friendshipsong”. The other MAS participants are Bastards Mustard with “Gave My Heart”, Bianca-Therese (“A Time of Broken Dreams”), Chevapcici (“Love Song #7”), dnbmoo (“Would Not Let You Down “), Ethiko (“Beautiful City”), Juke West & The Band (“Stop the War”), Kaljeezy (“wastedfaded”), One Last Glance (“Gasoline”), Sina Moonlake (“Undone”), conTrust ( “Daham”), Cecilia (“Northpole”), Schlogtausch (“Du sogst ma geh”) and The Golden Blades (“Golden Blade”).

The MAS 2022 is supported by the OÖN and tax consultants GRS Gstöttner Ratzinger Stellnberger, Leisch Installationstechnik, Mitterhuemer Elektrotechnik, Obermair Immobilien, Riegler Metallbau, Raiffeisenbank Steyr, Zipfer Bier and PK Music Solutions.
