Tomorrow, Monday, at the headquarters of the Confederation of African Football in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, the Executive Office of the Asian Football Confederation will choose the host country for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup finals.

Three countries are competing to host: Qatar, South Korea and Indonesia, after Australia withdrew from the race in early September.

Last May, China apologized for hosting the tournament due to its policy to limit the spread of the Corona virus, as the tournament was scheduled to be held in 10 Chinese cities during the period from June 16 to July 16, 2023, with the participation of 24 teams.

Qatar will compete for hosting, especially in light of the great readiness of the facilities, stadiums and infrastructure that will host the 2022 World Cup Finals from November 20 to December 18.

Qatar previously hosted the Asian Cup in 1988, when Saudi Arabia won the title by defeating South Korea on penalties, and 2011 when Japan won by defeating Australia after the extension, while Qatar won the continental championship title in its previous edition in the UAE in early 2019.

The Korean Federation had requested support from the member states and the Asian Confederation to host the tournament for the first time after 63 years, as Korea had hosted the second edition in 1960, and won the second title in its history after the first in 1956.
