Payment dates for retirees following May 1997:
- Wednesday, July 10th: Born between the 1st and 10th of any month.
- Wednesday, July 17: Born between the 11th and 20th of any month.
- Wednesday, July 24: Born between the 21st and 31st of any month.
The average payment for retirees this year is $1,900 per month. However, the amount can vary depending on retirement age. Retirees who retired at age 70 can receive up to $4,873 per month.
Requirements
To be eligible for Social Security retirement, certain requirements must be met:
- Be 62 years of age or older (age may vary in some cases).
- Have worked in a job covered by Social Security for at least 10 years.
- Having paid Social Security taxes.
