Pratibha Singh’s son and MLA Vikramaditya Singh told the media that Pratibha Singh will contest for the post of Chief Minister. Currently, Pratibha Singh is a Lok Sabha MP. If he becomes Chief Minister, he will have to resign from this position and contest for the Legislative Assembly. Congress came to victory by recalling the memory of Veerabhadra Singh and the achievements of governance. Vikramaditya Singh said in Shimla that MLAs and the Congress High Command will decide who will be the Chief Minister. But the current information is that the support of majority of the winners is Sukhwinder Singh Sukh.

With an absolute majority secured in Himachal, the Congress leadership is on high alert to avoid a BJP takeover. Vikramaditya Singh said that all possible steps will be taken to protect democracy. AIIC General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi is assessing the situation in Himachal. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Bhagal and former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Hooda were sent to Himachal as observers. Himachal Pradesh in-charge Rajiv Shukla said that a meeting of MLAs will be held in Shimla on Friday to elect a new chief minister.
