An iconic role might easily “float away” to another.
In the late 80s, Gerald Bezhanov’s comedy “Where is the nofelet?” was released. The main roles were played by Alexander Pankratov-Cherny and Vladimir Menshov.
In the center of the plot are cousins Gena and Pasha. One of them is an incorrigible womanizer, and the second is a modest forty-year-old bachelor. Casanova Gena teaches the shy Pasha how to meet girls. This leads the brothers to various ridiculous situations.
At first, Pasha was supposed to be played by Pankratov-Cherny. But with the actor for the role of heartthrob Gena Bezhanov did not immediately decide. He invited Andrei Mironov to audition, but the artist refused. According to him, he was tired of playing seducers.
Mironov liked the role of Pasha much more, and he changed with Pankratov-Cherny. This hero was staked out for Andrei Alexandrovich, and the artist himself went to Riga on tour. However, he was not destined to return.
But Pankratov-Cherny was unspeakably lucky. His bright character overshadowed the main character and made the actor the star of Nofelet.
