«Who wants to be a millionaire»: This is how it works behind the scenes

“Who wants to be a millionaire?” has been inspiring Germany since 1999 with Günther Jauch (65) as an amusing moderator. The German “Bild” newspaper reveals how the shooting goes. One detail in particular stands out: none of the candidates are left empty-handed. Everyone gets at least 150 euros – as compensation for all the effort.

But in order to even get the chance to take part in the rate show as a candidate, you first have to apply online. If you are considered, the potential player has to answer a few quiz questions over the phone. Once the telephone quiz has been passed, the candidates will be part of the show a short time later.
