The Isthmian made Colombians proud this Friday, August 9, becoming the second best in the world after winning the silver medal in weightlifting, and being an example of perseverance and hard work.

The 24-year-old from Chocó has dedicated himself to striving and working since he was very young for the well-being of his family. With a fighting pastovercoming displacement due to armed conflict in this area of the Colombian Pacific coast, which led him to grow up in Cali with his brother, where he sold sweets to help support his family.
Yeison, or better known as “Goku” as a reference to the character from a manga series, noted for his attitude of ability and optimism, but above all for his supernatural strength. The runner-up had already been part of the public eye years ago, when he appeared on the television program Desafío Superhumanos, representing the people of Valle del Cauca.
After failing to qualify for the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games, the Colombian once again demonstrated his perseverance and athletic ability by giving Colombia its second silver medal of the Olympics.
