The Pakistan Cricket Board has started evaluating test captain Azhar Ali’s captaincy and batsman performance to decide whether or not to retain him as captain for the tour of New Zealand.

It is likely that this meeting will be held in the next 10 days. The Test squad for the tour of New Zealand will be announced in the second week of November and during this time the PCB will decide whether to retain Azhar Ali as the Test captain or not.
The PCB confirmed Azhar Ali’s retention as captain for the 2020-21 season on May 13 when the central contract was announced, but the sources said the PCB has confirmed that Azhar Ali’s performance is being reviewed annually and a decision will be made thereafter.
