Who is the strong candidate for the captaincy of the Test team instead of Azhar Ali? The name came up

The Pakistan Cricket Board has started evaluating test captain Azhar Ali’s captaincy and batsman performance to decide whether or not to retain him as captain for the tour of New Zealand.

Before Test captain Azhar Ali’s visit to New Zealand, detailed discussions have been held with Chief Executive Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Wasim Khan regarding the evaluation of his performance as a captain and batsman, while Azhar Ali has discussed with Chairman Ehsan Mani. A meeting is yet to be held.

It is likely that this meeting will be held in the next 10 days. The Test squad for the tour of New Zealand will be announced in the second week of November and during this time the PCB will decide whether to retain Azhar Ali as the Test captain or not.

The PCB confirmed Azhar Ali’s retention as captain for the 2020-21 season on May 13 when the central contract was announced, but the sources said the PCB has confirmed that Azhar Ali’s performance is being reviewed annually and a decision will be made thereafter.

Recently, Misbah-ul-Haq’s performance as head coach and chief selector was also reviewed, after which a change took place and he was removed from one position (chief selector).

In case of a change of captain, wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan is a strong prospect. One circle says that if Azhar Ali is to be replaced, it should be done after the New Zealand series.

A senior board official and a senior member of the cricket committee want to replace Azhar Ali and hand over the captaincy to a young cricketer. There are plans to restrict Babar Azam to the captaincy of white-ball cricket.

Ever since head coach Misbah-ul-Haq became less powerful, reports of Azhar Ali’s changes began to be heard.
