Who is the new Saudi Minister of Education?

The new Saudi Minister of Education, Yousef bin Abdullah Al-Bunyan, put his name on the list of the most powerful CEOs in the Middle East for the year 2021, as he was serving as Vice Chairman and CEO of SABIC. Al-Bunyan holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University, which he obtained in 1987, while he obtained a master’s degree in industrial management in 1996.

Since then, Al-Bunyan has worked in several positions affiliated with SABIC and its various subsidiaries, as he held the position of General Manager of Textile Intermediaries in the head office of SABIC in Riyadh, then General Manager of the American SABIC Company in Houston, USA for two consecutive years, and then General Manager of SABIC Asia Pacific Company. For three years, then he held the position of Executive Vice President of Chemicals, and the position of Executive President of Human Resources at SABIC, following which he served as Executive Vice President for Financial Affairs.

From 2015 until the issuance of the royal order appointing him as Minister of Education, he has served as the company’s CEO and vice-chairman of the board of directors.
