President Joe Biden kept his campaign promise by nominating a black woman to replace Justice Stephen Breyer on the Supreme Court. This is a great step forward in history since out of a total of 115 judges, for 232 years, only two African-Americans have had this role (Thurgood Marshall and Clarence Thomas, who still sits there).
At 51, Ketanji Brown Jackson is the third black person and the sixth woman to sit on the Supreme Court.

A woman passionate about justice
Since graduating at Harvard University, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson is immersed in the legal world. It begins with an internship with Stephen Breyerformer judge of the Supreme Court whom she now replaces.
In 2011, Barack Obama offered him the post of judge at the United States District Court for that of Columbia. She began her duties in 2014.
Unlike her counterparts, she has field experience. She worked for destitute defendants in the legal aid services in Washington.
