Who is Ketanji Brown Jackson, the first black woman appointed to the United States Supreme Court

United States President Joe Biden appointed Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court, the first black woman to hold this office.

The judge Ketanji Brown Jackson has just joined the Supreme Court of the United States, whose task is to decide in the last resort on the decisions taken within the States. Back on his journey.

“For too long our government, our courts have not looked like America”

President Joe Biden kept his campaign promise by nominating a black woman to replace Justice Stephen Breyer on the Supreme Court. This is a great step forward in history since out of a total of 115 judges, for 232 years, only two African-Americans have had this role (Thurgood Marshall and Clarence Thomas, who still sits there).

At 51, Ketanji Brown Jackson is the third black person and the sixth woman to sit on the Supreme Court.

I just hope that my life, my career, my love of country and the Constitution, and my commitment to the rule of law and the sacred principles on which this nation was built, will inspire generations future of Americans. -Joe Biden-

For the American president, this decision is a form of reparation for injustice and a way to better represent America in government and in the courts. He assures :

It is time for the Court to reflect all the talents and greatness of our country. -Ketanji Brow Jacksonn-
