Passion for cooking
After high school, Noni Kooiman leaves aimlessly for Paris. She starts working at a Parisian bakery where she discovers her passion for cooking and food. Back in Amsterdam, she is a chef at various restaurants including The Lighthouse Island, Try in Café de Klepel.
She decides to dedicate herself completely to cooking and other things around it. She puts her passion for cooking on paper.
Culinary arts
Kooiman’s first cookbook will be published in 2020 Preserving in collaboration with Jonah Freud. It contains more than 300 recipes for preserving vegetables and fruit. Two years later she publishes her first own cookbook called Switch Srananfull of Surinamese recipes.
Kooiman continues to be inspired to bring her recipes to light. In 2023, she will release The Wok Bible out, her second cookbook. In it she tells all ins in outs about wokking. Every now and then you can still find her in the kitchen of Café de Klepel in Amsterdam. Is she as passionate about the game as she is about cooking? You can see it in The smartest person.
