Who have been the most outstanding players of Comunicaciones FC?

On August 16, 2024, one of the most famous and successful teams The prestige of Guatemalan football will celebrate its 75th anniversary.

The “cremas” of Comunicaciones have a rich history which is accompanied by titles both at national and international level and dozens of footballers have passed through their ranks, leaving their legacy.

History of the club

The team was officially founded on August 16, 1949, but its history dates back to the 1920s when it was known as Hospicio.

After a period where it was known as España FC, in 1949 the club adopted the name by which it is known today.

Communications Titles

José Casés Penadés was their first coach and was the one who led “los cremas” to obtain their first national crown in 1956.

The decades have moved on and today the cream team can boast of 54 crowns in its possession, including 32 National League trophies and 1 Concacaf Champions Cup.

The ideal eleven of Communications

Over the course of its 75 years, countless players have passed through the club’s offices and some have left a legacy for which they will be remembered by the fans of the white team.

In 2020, Comunicaciones FC carried out a dynamic on its social media in which it involved its followers to define an ideal 11 for the history of the team. The club shared a list of players and left it up to its fans to choose who deserved to keep certain positions.

Juan Jose Paredes

He was part of the historic sixth championship with Comunicaciones. He defended the goal for the team for several seasons and today he is remembered as one of the best goalkeepers in Guatemala.

Ronald Gonzalez

Costa Rican footballer. He joined the club in 1998 and won several titles, including being captain.

Joel Benítez

The Paraguayan was in two different stages. He was part of the sixth championship and all the fans remember him.

Martin Machon

A star in the mid-1990s, his great form allowed him to leave the country and play in the MLS. He later retired with the club.

Rigoberto Gomez

Honduran footballer who later became a Guatemalan citizen. He began his career with the Cremas in the late 1990s and did not leave the team until he retired, winning 16 titles.

Jose Manuel Contreras

Still active. He is the current captain of the team and one of its warriors of many battles.

Diego Latorre

Although he had a brief stint, he left his legacy. He won the 2003 Apertura title with a golden goal.

Oscar Sanchez

Idol and role model. He was five times top scorer and is currently the club’s top scorer with 165 goals.
