Cote d’Ivoire, holder of two continental trophies, has been officially appointed by the Confederation of African Football to organize the 34th edition of the African Cup of Nations, which remains the biggest sporting event on the continent.
On its official website, the Caf confirmed on March 30, the holding of the next edition of the CAN Energie Total which will begin in January 2024. For the circumstance, the Alassane Dramane OUATTARA stadium has been designated to host the match of opening which will take place on Saturday, January 13, 2024. This four-week tournament will bring together the twenty-four best African teams. The end of the tournament is scheduled for February 11, 2024, we can read in the press release from the body chaired by the South African Patrice Motsepé.
According to some rumours, while the Country of Didier DROGBA is accelerating the work to host the CAN 2024, a possible withdrawal of the organization of this 34th edition by the Ivory Coast cannot be excluded. According to the same rumors circulating in recent hours, the governing body of African football, CAF would have asked Algeria to be ready to host the 34th edition of the prestigious continental tournament in case the Ivory Coast gives up. To believe it, the Ivory Coast would not seem to be ready to complete the preparatory work within the time required to host the tournament.
Case to follow.
