Luxembourgers remain the wealthiest citizens of the European Union, with a purchasing power 2.5 times higher than the average of the 27, according to figures from the Eurostat statistical office on Thursday.
Compared to the European average, GDP per capita is 161% higher in the Grand Duchy. This is explained by the fact that the salaries of many workers from bordering countries are included in the Luxembourg result, according to Eurostat.

Ireland, which attracts many multinationals with its advantageous taxation, follows with a GDP per capita 134% higher than the EU average. The podium is completed by Denmark (+36%).
The Netherlands (+30%), Austria (+25%) and Belgium (+21%) follow.
The lowest results are found in Bulgaria (-59%) and Slovakia (-67%).
