Who are the leaders to join the party former Congress Ghulam Nabi Azad’s party ?

After leaving Congress, senior leader Ghulan Nabi Azad (ghulan nabi azad) is preparing to form his own political party. Azad had recently met several Congress leaders from the Jammu region, ending his century-old association with the party. After the resignation of Ghulam Nabi Azad, the resignations from the Congress are continuing.

Several Jammu leaders, including former leaders and ministers who met at Azad’s New Delhi residence since Friday, are expected to join his new political outfit, the Indian Express reported. Let’s get to know the key leaders joining Azad’s party.

Tara Chand

Tara Chand is a three-time Congress MLA from Chamb Assembly constituency in Jammu district. He has also held the post of Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly. Also a Dalit leader, he was the Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir from 2009 to 2014 in the National Conference-Congress coalition government.

GM Saroori

GM Saruri resigned from the primary membership of the Congress on 26 August in support of Ghulam Nabi Azad along with Haji Abdul Rasheed, Mohammad Amin Bhatt, Gulzar Ahmed Wani and Chaudhary Mohammad Akram. Now the Vice President of Jammu and Kashmir Congress, Saruri is a three-time MLA from Inderwal (now known as Mughal Maidan) constituency in Kishtwar district. He was a minister in the Jammu and Kashmir government from 2003 to 2008. He also served as a Cabinet Minister in 2009-10.

Choudhary Mohammed Akram

Chaudhary Muhammad Akram is a member of a prominent political family with influence among the Gujjars and Bakarwals of Jammu and Kashmir. In his first election in 2014, he was elected as MLA from Surankot Assembly Constituency. His father Chaudhary Aslam was the President of Jammu and Kashmir Congress for 17 years.

RS chib

RS Chib is a senior leader who resigned from Congress in support of Ghulam Nabi Azad. A former Indian Air Force officer, Chibb left the BJP and joined the Congress. In the 2002 Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, he contested from Suchetgarh and lost.

Abdul Majid Wani

Abdul Majeed Wani has been MLA twice from Doda. He was a minister in the 2008 NC-Congress coalition government. In the 2014 Jammu and Kashmir elections, he lost to BJP’s Shakti Parihar in Wani Doda.

Former Jammu and Kashmir ministers Manohar Lal Sharma, Jugal Sharma and Youth Congress leader Salman Nizami are also likely to be part of Azad’s national political party. Meanwhile, three more Jammu and Kashmir Congress leaders, including former deputy speaker Ghulam Haider Malik, former MLCs Subash Gupta from Katwa and Sham Lal Bhagat from Doda, quit the Congress on Monday.
