Convenience of use
Classic to the end of the drum, this Whirlpool FFDD 9469 BSV washing machine! Admittedly, it is difficult to find a bright idea to stand out, but the manufacturer has clearly made no effort. All dressed in white, it adopts a combo wheel / physical keys as banal as it is effective. To inform the user regarding the various changes made to the settings (water temperature, spin speed, etc.), Whirlpool has chosen a beautiful screen with large pixels.
While the FFDD 9469 BSV may come as no real surprise, it is nonetheless a washing machine that inspires confidence and looks ready to officiate in the laundry room for many years to come. As proof, the wheel, very pleasant to use thanks to its well-marked notches, does not suffer from any play. Good point, the name of the basic cycles is indicated on all its circumference, which avoids having to navigate without visibility , as can be the case with the Samsung Bespoke.
Programming necessarily begins with the choice of the basic cycle among the 16 possibilities offered. The big essentials (cotton, synthetic, delicate, etc.) are included, supported by a few more specialized programs such as those intended for washing silk, wool or even duvets. All this brings real versatility to the FFDD 9469 BSV.
After this first step, it is time to move on to adjusting the various parameters such as the water temperature or the spin speed. To do this, simply press the physical keys that surround the display to find the one that suits: difficult to do much simpler. If the basic options can be modified for all programs, it is not the same for certain functionalities. This is the case of intensive rinsing in particular. Surprisingly, if it can be activated for a linen cycle for example, it is not possible to benefit from it on the cotton programme, which is nevertheless widely used. Same observation for intensive washing, which is not available on all programmes. It will therefore take a bit of practice to know what can or cannot be done, depending on the programs used and the features you want to add.
Once everything is in place, all you have to do is start the process by pressing the start button on the far right of the control panel and wait…sometimes a long time! Indeed, the cycles of the FFDD 9469 BSV are very long. For example, it takes 3 hours and 15 minutes for a normal cotton cycle at 30°C loaded with 3 kg of laundry. By comparison, the same program on the Haier I-Pro Series 7 HW120 takes almost three times as long: 66 minutes.
Whirlpool recommends a maximum load of 9 kg. If we were able to fit 7.2 kg of various textiles without too much difficulty (which corresponds to 80% of the capacity), it seems to us much more difficult to wedge 9 kg in the drum of only 62 liters.
The detergent compartment of the Whirlpool FFDD 9469 BSV offers a wide amplitude when opening and it is filled without any difficulty. Its extraction for a deep cleaning as well as the putting back in place are not more complicated.
Washing efficiency
The Whirlpool FFDD 9469 BSV accomplishes its mission without shining too much.
At 30°C, its linen cycle can do nothing once morest the traces of lipstick, which are still as intractable, and the same goes for blood which is not faded in the least. Carbon black mixed with water also shows up very well. Coffee, wine and powdered carbon leave fairly visible traces. For their part, ketchup and carrot have almost disappeared.
As is often the case, the 60°C linen cycle is the most efficient due to the high water temperature. It is best not to overfill the drum, since the two cycles loaded with 3 kg of cotton remove stains better than the cotton program always, but carrying 80% of the maximum load.
Water and electricity consumption
The Whirlpool FFDD 9469 BSV washing machine does not particularly shine due to its water or electricity consumption.
If the water consumption of the normal cotton cycle (24.2 l/kg of laundry) and of the 60°C program (30.2 l/kg of laundry) are well above average (respectively 15 and 23 l/ kg of laundry), these indicators fall into line when the drum is loaded to 80% of its maximum capacity; 9.1 l/kg of laundry for the normal and economy versions. In comparison, the average of our comparison for this same program is 10.6 l/kg of laundry in normal mode and 7.7 l/kg of laundry in eco mode. The refresh cycle using steam shows minimal consumption: only 1 l/kg of laundry once morest, on average, 10 l/kg of laundry for the express program of the other appliances in our comparison.
A similar observation can be made regarding electricity needs. Some programs consume much more energy than average, such as cotton (3 kg at 30°C) in its classic version (0.75 kWh once morest 0.41 kWh) or its counterpart loaded at 80% of maximum capacity (0.66 kWh once morest 0.48 kWh on average). Others turn out to be a little more sober. This is the case with the linen cycle at 60°C (0.83 kWh once morest 1.02 kWh) or the 3 kg quick cotton program (0.22 kWh once morest 0.48 kWh).
The Whirlpool FFDD 9469 BSV gives the stubborn impression of not knowing how to adapt its consumption to the load of laundry on board.

Conclusion
How does grading work?
The FFDD 9469 BSV is not Whirlpool’s most successful washing machine. Despite obvious qualities in terms of handling when you see the very many options available, it does not really stand out from the mass of other products on the market, the fault of any washing performance, but above all of rinsing well in below our requirements. To make matters worse, the “intensive rinse” function cannot be activated on all cycles.
