Youngtimer models are often associated with historical moments and memorable events. Children who grew up in the 1980s and 1990s are now adults and old enough to afford a youngtimer. Many of them have already driven a vehicle of this type in their youth and today they wish to afford the same model of vehicle that they dreamed of during their youth.
3 – French car brands and cinema
The cinema and the automobile have always been inseparable. French youngtimer models are no exception to the rule, and they are regularly involved in numerous films and television series for decades.
The Renault brand has often been used in many films. Several of its models thus appear in remarkable films, such as “A View to a Kill”, “For Your Eyes Only”, “The Italian Job”, “The Transporter”, “Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation” or even the film “The Fifth Element”.
The other French brands are also often present in films and television series. This is particularly the case of the Peugeot 206, which was used in the French film “Taxi”, while the Peugeot 307 was used in the film “The Transporter”. Other vehicles from this brand have also made notable appearances in films such as “The Da Vinci Code”, “Fast & Furious 6” and “Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation”.
4 – Reliability and ease of maintenance
Youngtimer models are generally very reliable and can be maintained easily. Although spare parts are becoming increasingly rare, these collectible vehicles are much easier to maintain than the older models designed in the 1960s.
5 – Quality of materials
The youngtimer models are generally built with quality materials superior. These types of vehicles are therefore much more resistant and they do not include as many electronic products, which therefore makes them less fragile.
6 – Reputation
Youngtimer models are usually highly regarded by collectors and vintage car enthusiasts. Older models have a bad reputation for being difficult to maintain.
7 – Availability
Youngtimer models are generally much easier to find on the second-hand market than older models. For example, on the La Centrale platform, there are 18 Peugeot 205 GTI models for sale at a price between 5,000 and 30,000 euros.
