Which Samsungs are eligible for Android 7 updates?

Last October, Google unveiled the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro phones, boasting that they were the first in the world to offer seven years of software support. This was a challenge to Samsung, which until then had promised “only” four updates for select Androidua devices and five years of security updates. It didn’t take long for the Korean giant to follow suit, calling out its American rival the Galaxy S24.

All of the devices listed below run Android 14 out of the box, which means their last major system update will be Android 21. They will also receive regular security updates until 2031. Whether Samsung will eventually extend this long support to older flagships like the Galaxy S23 series or the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 is unclear at the moment, but we don’t think it’s very likely. The question is whether future higher-end models in the series will also receive 7 years of Galaxy A support.

List of Samsung eligible for 7 Androidu updates

  • Galaxy S24Ultra
  • Galaxy S24 +
  • Galaxy S24
  • Galaxy Fold to Z6
  • Galaxy Z-Flip6

The Korean giant has recently improved the availability of spare parts. In addition, these should be available for years, so that you can repair your Galaxy device if necessary, which is a novelty now, but logically will no longer be the case in 5 years. It is the availability of spare parts, especially batteries and displays, that many are most concerned about with such a long support. This is an exemplary approach by the company to reduce electronic waste and helps consumers to use the money spent even longer, regardless of the manufacturer’s profits from the sale of new machines.
