Earlier this year, Samsung announced the launch of its televisions in Brazil S90C e S95Cwhich are the first panels of their kind QD-OLED (Quantum Dot Organic Emitting Diode) to arrive in the country. This technology marks Samsung’s incursion into the manufacture of OLED panels for Smart TVs, a production that until then was restricted to smartphone screens.

The announcement promised the launch of the TVs during the first half of 2023. With the year halfway over and a possible launch date regarding to be revealed, it’s important that we recap what we know so far regarding these two TVs.

Samsung OLED S95C e S90C

S95C is the successor of S95B, launched overseas in 2022 (the first QD-OLED Smart TV). The S95C model TVs are manufactured in models of 55, 65 and 77 inches, and only the first two sizes have been confirmed for sale here in Brazil. For smaller or larger OLED TVs, we will have to catch up with the launch of TVs in 2024 with LG OLED panels purchased by Samsung.

With Dolby Atmos support, Samsung bets on Object Tracking Sound+ technology, which uses artificial intelligence to identify the exact location of the sound source of the content you are watching, promising more dynamic and accurate audio.

Samsung QD-OLED TVs offer attractive differentiators: In addition to the striking blacks characteristic of the panel OLEDthey also feature the clearer white gloss and accurate colors characteristic of the panels QLED.

Another interesting fact is that Samsung OLED TVs are the first to receive Pantone color certification, which guarantees excellent color fidelity on the panel.

The S95C has an extremely thin thickness due to the One Connect module. This feature allows the cables to be located in a separate region of the TV, resulting in an installation free of visible cables. On the other hand, the S90C lacks One Connect.

Unlike the thick edges of some branded cell phones (check out our Galaxy A14 and A54 review), the edges of Samsung Smart TVs are getting smaller and smaller – reaching up to 4 millimeters thick.

The main difference between the S95C and the S90C is that the latter has an anti-glare layer on the display, making it ideal for use in well-lit rooms or environments.

Samsung’s new OLED TVs stand out for supporting a refresh rate of 120 Hz, which can reach 144 Hz with the Game Motion Plus feature. This is great news for gamers, as a higher refresh rate makes for more responsive and fluid gameplay.

Operational system

Both TVs arrive running the Tizen operating system. Out of all the most popular streaming services, the brand also offers Samsung TV Plus – a service with over 1900 free channels.

We also have the return of Gaming Huba service that allows the user to play the most current games without a console or computer, just using the TV, through paid applications Xbox Cloud Gaming and the NVIDIA GeForce Now.

As far as we know, the controller remains the popular Samsung SolarCell, which recharges via ambient sunlight or a USB-C cable. We’ve already tested several TVs with this remote, like the Samsung QN85B.

How much will this prank cost?

Considering these are high-end TVs designed to compete with LG’s OLEDs, it is to be expected that the models have high prices. Furthermore, the fact that the QD-OLED being a new technology also exerts a great influence on the price.

Although we still do not have information on the prices of these new SmartTVs in Brazil, we can observe their value abroad:
