In the car, it is usually used on car masks, bumpers and wheels, while it is also present in the cabin.
The proposal to ban its use was dropped by the European Union last summer, as reported by carandmotor, and is expected to be implemented by the end of the year, causing headaches for automakers looking for an alternative with similar or identical visual performance but with a greatly reduced impact on health and the environment.
The chrome ban is part of the End of Life Vehicle regulations and the use of various hazardous substances used in their manufacture. In addition to hexavalent chromium, these include, among others, lead, mercury and cadmium.
The ban will affect a particularly important sector in the general automotive sector, such as the repair or restoration of historic cars, while other sectors of the industry such as printing and cookware manufacturing will not be left unscathed.
