A new study from the tire experts at Tires Easy reveals the vehicle makes and models that have received the most complaints over the past decade.

The survey analyzed data from more than 620,000 complaints in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) owner complaint database since 2015.

Methodology:

Data from NHTSA spreadsheets were analyzed for the years 2015 to 2024. Duplicate complaints were removed using NHTSA’s internal reference number.

The complaints are then tabulated with specific numbers, given vehicle models and makes, and the states and cities where the complaints were made.

Gary Davis of Tires Easy commented on the findings:

“While these statistics should be considered in light of the relative proportion of all car sales represented by each brand, it is certainly interesting to know which makes and models are the most troublesome for owners and therefore receive the most complaints.

Of course, the models with the most complaints are the best-selling models in the United States, but that doesn’t necessarily insulate their manufacturers from criticism, as owners usually only file complaints about ongoing problems with their vehicles.
