Zazenbi Tanzi was crowned Miss Universe in the final stage of the 68th Miss Universe pageant held in the American city of Georgia.
While answering questions from the judges at the final part of the global pageant, Queen Hassan said, “I grew up in a world where a woman who looks like me, that is, has the same hair and complexion as me. A woman, she has never been considered beautiful.” According to Zazenbi, “It’s time to put an end to this attitude and I want children to see me when they look at me. Be seen.” Miss Africa along with Miss Mexico Sofia Aragon and Puerto Rico’s Hasina Madison Anderson managed to get second and third place in the competition of the most beautiful Miss Universe. The competition was held at Perry’s Stowe Davis in Atlanta. Famous comedian and compere Steve Harvey hosted the competition for the fifth time.
The pageant has already made history as Myanmar’s Swe Zin Htet became the first gay woman to participate. Miss Zuzubini is the third woman from South Africa to be elected, two South African women have previously won the crown. It should be remembered that Zazobini is the first black beauty from South Africa to receive this honor. Zazobini is an activist against gender discrimination and physical violence. She has dedicated her social media team to raising her voice against gender stereotypes and changing the perception. Also, Zazbini is the first Miss Universe to be crowned ‘Power of Unity’.
The value of this crown is estimated at 73 million rand in South African currency.
