ATLANTA, Georgia. – The possible arrival of snow in Metro Atlanta has caused great anticipation, especially since the chances of snow fall vary from region to region. Meteorologist Eduardo Rodríguez explains which areas are the ones that might experience these conditions.
The temperatures with which Metro Atlanta began this Saturday are cold, although not as cold as previous days. Marietta reported 35 degrees Fahrenheit and Atlanta 40 degrees Fahrenheit at sunrise.
In Metro Atlanta, mostly cloudy skies and temperatures above 40 degrees are anticipated in the followingnoon. During the night a temperature of 33 degrees is expected in the region. This temperature is the limit of snow and ice.
“Generally, you need cooler temperatures to have a big snowfall,” he said. this Saturday the meteorologist Eduardo Rodríguez, who recalled that during the snowfall a few years ago temperatures were in the 20s Fahrenheit.
Current conditions indicate that the region will receive at least snow and ice formation.
“Lawrenceville has more chance of snow,” Rodriguez said.
The Metro Atlanta region currently has a winter weather advisory, which means a tenth of an inch of ice formation and up to an inch of snow is expected to form, the forecaster said.
“It’s not the same if you live on the southern outskirts near the Hartfield airport or if you live in Cobb County, which is more at risk of snow,” Rodriguez said. “Forsyth is more at risk, Gwinnett too,” he added.
The entire Metro Atlanta region is under a wind advisory through Sunday at 12:00 p.m. “This means that from tonight until tomorrow there may be winds of 15 to 25 miles per hour,” said Eduardo Rodríguez. “In the area of the mountains, the winds will be higher, as in Lawrenceville where 35 miles per hour are expected,” added the meteorologist.

The winter storm warning issued by the National Weather Service covers all counties in northern Georgia. This notice indicates that this area is the one that will receive the greatest accumulations of snow and ice. “The worst part will take North Carolina,” said the meteorologist.
