Until the arrival of the Apple Watch Ultra, Apple always offered two box sizes for your smart watches. Over the generations, they have undergone slight changes, but always with the same purpose: to offer an ideal option for every type of person.

What sizes is the Apple Watch available in?
This will depend a lot on the generation of the watch. From the original Apple Watch to the Series 3, sizes were from 38mm e 42mm. From the Series 3 to the Series 6 (including both generations of the SE), they moved on to 40mm e 44mm, respectively; then, with the arrival of the Series 7 (and beyond), Apple stepped it up a bit more, to 41mm e 45mm.
In addition to these, Apple also started to sell the Apple Watch Ultra in a single size of 49mm.
So, we have:
38mm e 42mm: Apple Watch, Apple Watch Series 1 e Series 2.
40mm e 44mm: Apple Watch Series 3, Series 4, Series 5 e Series 6

It is worth noting that this measurement, in millimeters, is the vertical size of the watch case (and not the diagonal of the screen, as many people think).
What should I consider when choosing a size?
Case and screen size
Of course, the first thing you need to choose is whether you prefer a larger or smaller watch. This will depend a lot on each taste, but usually the smaller watch is better on wrists that are not so large, while the larger one ends up being ideal for those with larger wrists. This, of course, is not a rule.
Apple currently sells the 40mm, 41mm, 44mm, 45mm, and 49mm sizes.
As the sizes of the boxes are different, then the screen also ends up being directly hit in this regard. If you opt for a larger model (44mm or 45mm), the software as a whole can be accessed more easily — as the buttons on the interface are bigger.
The 41mm model, for example, has a screen with a resolution of 352×430 pixels, while the 45mm has a panel of 396×484 pixels.
Weight
Although it seems obvious, larger watches are slightly heavier than smaller ones. But this depends on factors such as the size and material of the case, following all, a stainless steel structure is heavier than an aluminum one. Also, weights vary depending on whether the model is GPS only or GPS + Cellular.

Bracelet
Apple offers a huge variety of bands for the Watch. However, there are certain models that are exclusive to certain sizes.
A leather bracelet with modern clasp it is only available for the smaller models, 40mm or 41mm — it is also compatible with 38mm watch models, which are no longer marketed by the company.
In addition to it, certain models made in partnership with the French fashion house Hermès are also limited to smaller watch sizes.
On the other hand, the bracelets created for the Apple Watch Ultraleather and certain Hermès colors are limited to the larger Apple Watches, 42mm, 44mm, 45mm and also 49mm.
Battery
As the case size changes, so does the battery cell size. Therefore, versions with larger boxes have stronger batteries than those present in smaller models.
On the other hand, Apple claims that any model has a battery with “up to 18 hours” of duration, so this may vary according to its use.
