Rawalpindi Police approached the court for arrest warrant of 60 leaders belonging to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
To obtain arrest warrant, the police submitted a list of wanted leaders to the ATC, including Zulfi Bukhari, Zartaj Gul, Farrukh Habib, Hammad Azhar, Wasiq Qayyum and others.
It requested that the accused are wanted by the police in other cases against the violent incidents of May 9. A case has been registered against the accused under anti-terrorism provisions at RA Bazar police station.
It was requested that the accused are constantly hiding to avoid arrest, the named accused have been wanted by the police for a long time, so their arrest warrants should be issued.
Yesterday, the Anti-Terrorism Court had started the process of declaring 7 PTI leaders as advertisers.
In the case of burning police vehicles near Jinnah House, the ATC had ordered the release of advertisements of PTI leaders.
The court had ordered the release of advertisements for Hammad Azhar, Mian Aslam Iqbal, Samar Mashuq, Malik Haider Ali, Fayaz Anwar, Muhammad Adnan and Muhammad Qasim.
Judge Abhar Gul Khan of the Anti-Terrorism Court ordered the publication of the advertisement. During the hearing, the investigating officer had said that the accused are hiding to avoid arrest, so the process of declaring the accused should be started.
