Properati, expert portal in real estate consulting in Latin America, developed a digital tool (Ahorrómetro), in order to help couples, friends, family members looking for a home to rent in Bogotá.

Depending on the platform, the locations with the most expensive leases in the city are in Chapinero, Usaquén and Subain whose neighborhoods the rental value, if divided between two people, ranges between 2.2 and 2.6 million pesos per month for each one, for a three-bedroom apartment.
By contrast, the cheapest leases are in neighborhoods of the towns of Bosa and Usme, where, dividing the rent between two people, each one pays from 300,000 to 370,000 pesos a month, for a three-bedroom apartment.

“With this tool, people can find the rental price divided between two or three people, with the average area of the apartments, in addition to selecting the number of rooms and the location of interest to limit the search,” says Jairo Sarmiento, property data analyst
He also explains that if a couple wants to rent a three-bedroom apartment in the west of the city, the most populated area of Bogotá (Engativá, Fontibón or Kennedy), it costs between 400,000 and 1.1 million pesos per person. But if they move their search closer to the center-south of the city, in middle-class towns such as Puente Aranda, Los Mártires or Antonio Nariño, they will find that each one would have to pay between 450,000 and 1.1 million, a scenario quite Similary.
Things change when looking for two-bedroom rentals. In the west, prices per person range from 320,000 to 1.3 million pesos, while in the center-south prices range from 330,000 to 690,000 pesos per person.
“With a little more budget, a couple can move closer to the center-north, without being affected by the high prices of Chapinero. In Barrios Unidos and Teusaquillo the following scenario can be found: rents for three rooms that range from 660,000 to 1.5 million pesos per person, and for two rooms that range between 440,000 and 1.6 million per person”, he adds.
