Among the reasons that prompted investigators investigating the murder of Sharon Verzeni, in Terno d’Isola, to question her boyfriend and his father again, as people informed of the facts, there would also be an investigative lead that brings the 33-year-old barmaid’s interest to the Scientology church. Although in March she had completed the premarital course with her boyfriend in the parish of Terno, for a few months Sharon had become close to the religious movement founded in the United States and – Il Giorno reports – she went to Scientology meetings in Gorle, and recently she had also involved her partner. Investigators are said to be working to understand if in these new acquaintances there are elements useful for the investigation into the crime of the young woman, stabbed in the street on the night between July 29 and 30 in the town in the Bergamo area.
All avenues remain open. On the one that leads to the Scientology meetings, the parish priest of Terno d’Isola, questioned by Adnkronos, appears doubtful: “Sharon was preparing for a course for religious marriage and she seemed very convinced of her choice: then frankly I don’t know if she attended Scientology as one does yoga without being Buddhist. To me she seemed animated by the Christian faith and convinced of the choice of a Catholic marriage”, says the priest. According to the parish priest, the two fiancés had not shown signs of arguments or misunderstandings, at least during the course of preparation for the marriage: “They were a somewhat reserved couple, but close. They didn’t have a date already decided for their wedding, but this is true for half of the couples who attend the meetings”.
