Last weekend, a picture of the pope wearing padding appeared on the American online community ‘Reddit’. Pope Francis, dressed in pure white padding, shone like an angel.
Clergy clothes are divided into casual clothes (Sudan) and liturgical clothes (Ceremony). The pope usually appears in public wearing a white zucchetto (a small brimless hat) symbolizing light and an ankle-length vest.
But this time it was different. In the undated photo, Pope Francis is dressed in thick, shiny white padding.
Since then, interest and curiosity arose online regarding which brand the Pope’s padding was. Don Moynihan, a Georgetown professor, tweeted, “What is the name of that brand that Pope Francis is wearing?”
However, it turned out that the photo was not real, but a fake made by someone using the artificial intelligence (AI) tool Midjourney. The tool recently made headlines for creating a scene in which former President Donald Trump was arrested surrounded by police officers in handcuffs.
Elliot Higgins, founder of Bellingcat, a digital data analysis group, used Midjourney to create a picture of former President Trump dressed as an orange prisoner.
In this regard, Forbes evaluated the photo as ‘counterfeit money in reality’, saying that it was sophisticated enough to believe that it was real.
Movie star Chrissy Teigen said, “The pope’s padding looked real, and I didn’t even suspect it was fake.”
However, it is known that a fake clue can be found in the fact that Midnergy has not yet been able to implement a human hand like a real one.
