This is also the confluence of Cau River and Ca Lo River. Right next to the rice tree is Xa Temple – the place to worship Saint Tam Giang, which is also the site of the poem “Nam Quoc Son Ha”.
According to history books, in the days of boiling resistance, Ly Thuong Kiet transmitted this poem to arouse patriotism and encourage our army and people in the battle to defeat the Song invaders in the spring of 1077.
Xa Temple has traces from ancient times, but over time, it has been restored many times in the Le and Nguyen dynasties. During the war once morest the French, the temple was completely destroyed. Peace was restored, the villagers once more contributed to the construction and restoration to get the appearance it is today.
With special historical value, Xa Temple was recognized as a national relic in 1988 – the same time the ancient rice tree on the riverbank was recognized as a “National Heritage Tree”.
On the occasion of the 940th anniversary of the victory once morest the Song army, in 2017, Bac Ninh province built a complex of relics of Ly Thuong Kiet temple on the historic riverbank.
Tam Giang is a vast land and sky, a green stretch of river with idyllic wharfs connecting trade between the North and South banks. This place – Xa junction is full of historical and cultural sediments and has a heritage rice tree and Ly Thuong Kiet temple relic complex, which will be an attractive and interesting eco-tourism destination.
