President Andrés Manuel López Obrador was born on November 13, 1953 in Tepetitlán, a town in the municipality of Macuspana, Tabasco.

He began his political career in 1976, after completing a degree in Political Science and Public Administration from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). This year, AMLO supported the candidacy of Tabasco poet Carlos Pellicer for Senator for the state of Tabasco.
