Son Woong-jung, the father of Tottenham Hotspur’s Son Heung-min (30, Tottenham), the English Premier League (EPL) top scorer, said he opposes the creation of a ‘Son Heung-min street’.
On the 12th, Director Son visited the Gangwon-do Office of Education and met Superintendent Shin Kyung-ho. When Superintendent Shin suggested, “I wish that Son Heung-min Street should be built in Chuncheon,” Director Son replied, “There has been such talk regarding it for years, but he continues to insist that it is not.”
Director Son said, “I am very careful that Heung-min will lead a normal life when he retires.
In response, Superintendent Shin said, “The large mural of Son Heung-min painted in Chuncheon is famous enough to be visited by outsiders.
Chuncheon is the hometown of Son Heung-min. Son Heung-min is said to have developed solid basics and shooting skills while training in Gongjicheon, Chuncheon with his father, coach Son, who had been a soccer player since childhood.
In Chuncheon, there is a mural by Son Heung-min that was completed last December. Son Heung-min smiled broadly on the wall of a building in Palho Square. The mural was sponsored by Son Heung-min’s fans and was planned by wall-sharing platform ‘wall-d’. It was drawn by Heung-Min Son and Hae-Dong Hae-Dong from Chuncheon.
Meanwhile, on the same day, coach Sohn visited the Gangwon Provincial Office of Education to discuss effective methods for students to exercise and study at the same time in relation to the Son Soccer Academy in Chuncheon.
Director Sohn talked regarding the difficulties of the academy students in balancing sports and studies. He said, “There are many children who are going to go abroad, so studying a foreign language is essential.” “Parents form a cooperative to invite outside lecturers, and the academy only lends space to teach English, German, Japanese and Spanish as well as history.”
He continued, “I thought regarding switching to an alternative school, but the conditions were too strict and it was difficult to meet it, so I gave up halfway.”
Superintendent Shin replied, “Lifestyle physical education and elite physical education must go together.
